Today, during a training session with my triathlon coach, we got into an interesting conversation — one that made me think about much more than just sport.

It started when I mentioned a mutual friend who had recently completed an Ironman race. He finished, which is already a huge achievement, but… the result wasn’t what he’d hoped for. He’d stopped working with our coach about a year ago.

That sparked the reflection: what’s the true value of a coach?

I told my trainer — “You know, it’s not really about the exercises you plan for us. The biggest value you bring is the last 10 seconds of each set, each interval, each challenge. The part when I want to stop, when I think I’m done — and you push me to go beyond. That’s where the magic happens.”

That’s the difference: with a coach, we go further. We break barriers. We find strength we didn’t know we had.

And I realized — it’s exactly the same in business.

A great coach isn’t just giving you tips or frameworks. A great business coach helps you gain clarity. Challenges your limits. Holds you accountable. Asks questions no one else dares to ask. Pushes you not just to do more — but to be more.

Coaching is not a cost. It’s an investment in your highest possible outcome.
